Crookwell Early Learning - Centre Program: Birth to School Age

At Crookwell Early Learning, our educational program is guided by the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF), the national curriculum used across Australia. The EYLF focuses on five key learning outcomes that support children’s identity, wellbeing, connection to their world, confidence as learners and communication skills. Our educators plan meaningful, intentional experiences each day that support children’s development in a nurturing, play-based environment.

Our weekly program incorporates six key learning areas: fine motor, gross motor, communication and language, creative and sensory development, cognitive development, and social and emotional skills. Experiences are planned by extending on children’s interests, ensuring learning is engaging, purposeful and meaningful. Families are welcome to view our weekly program and contribute ideas, as we value strong partnerships with families in supporting each child’s learning journey.

Families are welcome to come and have a look at our centre anytime. We are open from Monday to Friday, 8am- 6pm, 50 weeks a year.

Discovery Room: 0-3 years

Our 0–3 room provides a secure, nurturing and responsive environment where our youngest learners feel safe, supported and valued. During these early years, strong relationships with educators form the foundation for learning. We focus on building trust, attachment and a sense of belonging, allowing children to explore the world around them with confidence.

Learning for our youngest children occurs through play, routines and everyday interactions. Educators support early communication, sensory exploration, physical development and emerging independence through intentional experiences tailored to each child’s individual needs and developmental stage. Our routines support wellbeing, self-regulation and confidence, laying the groundwork for lifelong learning.

What families will see:

  • Warm, responsive educators building secure, trusting relationships with each child

  • Calm, predictable routines that support a sense of safety and wellbeing

  • Sensory play, music, stories and exploration tailored to each child’s development

  • Support for emerging independence, such as feeding, self-help and early communication

  • A nurturing environment where children are comforted, supported and encouraged to explore

Preschool Room: 3-5 years

Our Preschool Room offers a rich, engaging learning environment that supports children to grow as confident, capable and curious learners. Through play-based learning, children are encouraged to ask questions, problem solve, persist with challenges and explore their interests. Educators intentionally plan experiences that support early literacy, numeracy, creativity, social skills and independence.

We place a strong emphasis on social and emotional development, supporting children to form friendships, manage emotions, cooperate with others and develop resilience. Children are encouraged to take increasing responsibility for self-help skills such as managing belongings, following routines and participating confidently in group experiences, preparing them for the transition to school.

What families will see:

  • Children engaged in purposeful play that encourages problem solving and curiosity

  • Educators supporting friendships, turn-taking and emotional regulation

  • Early literacy and numeracy explored through stories, games and play experiences

  • Opportunities for children to build independence through routines and self-help skills

  • Children confidently expressing ideas, asking questions and participating in group learning
